O God, our rock – we long for your deliverance from the injustices and oppression we face in a nation permeated with arrogance and self-centeredness. Your people suffer hunger, homelessness, illness, and death; deliver us O Lord! Hear our cry and answer our prayers. Amen.
Moravian Daily Text for 6/9/2020
The Moravian Music Foundation stands for fair treatment and equal justice for all people: all citizens, all immigrants, and all visitors to our country.
In our own history, we recognize that African Americans labored to build our communities and strengthen our country, while they and their descendants were prevented from benefiting from their labor. These sins continue to bear their evil fruit in our society, and we, as people of faith and as musicians, support efforts towards the righting of these wrongs, past and present.
Rep. John Lewis of Georgia wrote:
“Our work won’t be easy — nothing worth having ever is — but I strongly believe, as Dr. King once said, that while the arc of the moral universe is long, it bends toward justice.”
