Choral Anthem with English and German text.
Johannes Sörensen (1767-1831) was educated at the Moravian schools in Christiansfeld (Denmark), Niesky, and Barby, Germany, and received a medical degree in 1794. Alongside
his medical practice he engaged in musical activity, composing a number of beloved anthems. He had to retire in 1829 because of ill health.
Bethany, O Peaceful Habitation was edited from manuscript copies which survive in several of the North American Moravian collections. The work is originally scored for flute or
oboe, horns, strings and organ. Full score and parts are available from the Moravian Music Foundation.
The funding for this publication was provided in honor of Graham and Sybil Rights, for their years of faithful service to the Moravian Church, by John and Brandi Rights and
