Music Theory:
Form & Analysis II
5 Weeks
Feb. 5 – March 5
Music is an art in which sounds unfold over time. In this course, we will begin to look more deeply at the underlying structures on which music is built and how composers have used different techniques to create a sense of coherence. In this class, we will begin to explore larger-scale forms. This is a continuation of the Form and Analysis course offered in Fall 2025; however, you do not need to have attended that series to participate in this one. Please note that you should be able to read music in order to get the most out of this course.

History of Western Music: Modern
In this series, we will be exploring the history and literature of music from the beginning of the twentieth century to today. Along the way, we will be examining elements of music, terminology, composers, style, and the ways in which music interacted with the rapidly changing world. As we will see, this was a moment when composers began to question the very foundations of music and performance. Some of the composers we will explore are Strauss, Schoenberg, Stravinsky, and many more! Please join us as we study this fascinating period.

John Amos Comenius (1592–1670) was a Czech educational reformer and religious leader connected to the Unitas Fratrum (considered the spiritual ancestors of the Moravian Church).
